NEW PETE ROCK production - Smoke DZA x Benny The Butcher

Pete Rock produced the entire EP for Smoke DZA and Benny The Butcher.

Check out this one where they rap over Joyce Sims "Come Into My Life".

If this youtube below loads correctly, the cover art is the statue of liberty on the end of an automatic weapon.

At some point his beats started getting more cluttered, more treble and more "raw" sounding, I guess. I dunno, I prefer his earlier meticulous-sounding borderline shoegazey stuff. This feels more later-period Dilla and Madlib influenced or something.

Thanks and I'll check this out. I really liked the Pete Rock/Smoke DZA's "Don't Smoke Rock" album a few years back.

The Pete Rock production on this release is awesome. Seriously dope, classic but sounds really contemporary with the Griselda crew on the mic.. The EP is great. It's interesting to hear this and then the new Gang Starr. A great trip down memory lane and DJ Premier is a classic producer but in comparison to "All Means Necessary" it does sound "sentimental". Pete Rock has managed to take the old school and make it sound current.
