When was Beyonce's last top 5 hit?

Seriously, why is the media so insecure that Taylor Swift more successful than Beyonce in every possible conciveable metric available in the music industry????

*

*

That's why the desperation for her worthless Lion King cameo and other nonsense to make her appear relevant.

*

*

And Taylor will end her career being more succesful than Beyonce too. She already solidified her fan base before any of the fake backlash could ever come.

*

*

We know she's just as big as Beyonce (but obviously bigger) in the US and gets about as much attention as well and her success in Asia>Beyonce's success in Eurupe.

*

*

Seriously, people NEVER used Jackson 5 statistics etc... when measuring Michael Jackson's success/impact because if it's solo Tayor Swift vs solo Beyonce, Taylor Swift DESTROYS her.

*

*

Taylor Swift has now clearly continued her success despite lots of unmistakable backlash over the years and deserves the drawing attention to how much Taylor Swift crushes Beyonce in the music industry.

Well, if you do a google search, you would see her "Lemonade" album was #1 on the Billboard and R&B charts. So, she has been rather successful as of late. And I wouldn't consider the media "insecure" when it comes to Beyonce and Taylor Swift. Because, by every metric Beyonce is a far more talented and superior artist than Taylor. I'm not a fan of either artist. But, there simply isn't even a serious comparison of the two in the talent department.

Both Beyonce and Taylor's voices are like nails against a chalkboard to me. Really, I can't stand either one of them. if I were FORCED to choose between the two, I couldn't do it! Their music is equally wretched. ill I don't get either one's success. Especially Beyonce. U.S. media still talks about her like she is some kind of innovative genius and musical royalty. I don't hear Taylor receiving the same kind of accolades.

Not sure why the female superstars are always pitted against each other. Neither is a favorite of mine but I don't think they are devoid of talent either. Beyonce's last two studio solo albums were very much album focused and a purposeful move away from Top 40 pop music. The results were that each of the albums were one of the best selling albums in their respective years and they yielded several hits on urban radio. Taylor is way more focused on Top 40 and is a force there. While I agree that Beyonce is over praised by the press, I don't agree that they care much about the alleged competeition between Beyonce and Taylor.

She had a #1 hit with Ed Sheeran last year or the year before last. I think she was the featured artist though.

Beyonce has had a successful career but her stats don't line up with the praise the media reaps upon her. To be fair though, no stats could measure up to that.

As for the random Taylor Swift comparison, really the only thing Tay girl has Beyonce beat in is the songwriting department. Her lyrics generally ain't anything noteworthy but she doesn't have an entire album's personnel on a single track like Beyonce does.

The only area where I would compare the 2 is in media reception (i.e. who gets their ass licked more by the media) and for a while post-1989, it seemed as if Tay was rising to Bey's level but more criticism has been leveled at her for various reasons while we've reached the point where the press is outlawing people having the audacity to say the "Almighty Queen" Beyonce is overrated.

I mess w/ both of them when they do somethin I like shrug. I suppose if I had 2 choose, I'd go w/ Be. But hell, I just started likin her around 4 n her self titled 1. I was a big DC fan, but thought it got whack w/ all the lineup changes cuz I thought Letoya Luckett was fine as all outdoors lol, blamed Be n her Pops like sum ppl. Got over it, never got into Lemonade tho, but am listening to Everything Is Love as I type (Jay-Z fan 4eva flipped off). The bonus track from her new live album is fire (her cover of Before I Let Go boogie). Her sis is fire (more my type of tunes 2), just had 2 throw that in hmph!. Liked a handful of Taylor songs along the way also. Both sing fine, fine performers, etc. Who cares about #'s n all that shit, u like it, u don't, that's what should matter. My scatterbrain thoughts headache.

To her credit(i give credit when it's due) even though I'm not really a fan of Beyonce. But admire her drive, endurance & hard work. I will honestly say she is the HARDEST working woman of her generation. But I admit her vocal layering is quite impressive.

BTW: I'm still trying to forgive her for releasing "Lemonade" THE WEEKEND of Prince's(r.i.p.) tragic transitioning. It was SO disrespectful. Since he greatly admired her. But she did apologize later. Plus her husband made Prince(r.i.p) very happy in his last year on earth with the TIDAL deal.

I think it's very fair to be aggressively critical of Beyonce's career.

*

*

I respect her as a singer and performer.

*

*

But what she did with songwriting credits in her career is no different than people who chastise lip-syncers or people 'who don't write their own songs'.

*

*

In fact, it should be deemed much worse. I don't know how that isn't as 'fraudulent' as some of the other things acts are accused of.

*

*

If you're saying well she's the 'creative director' or 'heavily involved in the music', what the hell does that have to do with songwriting? Especially when critics disparaged other acts who've done the same thing with their albums. At the end of the day, Beyonce is singing music other people wrote, just like many of her contemporaries.

*

*

Yes, Taylor Swift does deserve the recognition of being much more successful than Beyonce, which she is.

*

*

She surpassed her a long time ago.

Her last two albums had no radio hits and no promotion and still sold very well. If you people actually listened to most of the garbage that gets airplay these days, you'd see that by comparison Beyonce and Taylor make decent music.

That's the way people are in our culture. If it hadn't been about Becky's hair, something else relatively trivial would have become the news of the day. People's attention to important matters, especially if it is sad or reminds them of their own mortality, have a thousand ways to get distracted thanks to electronics and sensationalized news. It's much funner to click on bait about how horribly deformed various stars have become from plastic surgery, right lol ?

So Beyonce was just supposed to freeze her career entirely for P's passing? Sure, that would have been nice but she didn't HAVE to do anything.

It's not like Lemonade even took much attention from Prince's death. People were still talking about him, he was featured on countless magazine covers, talked about in countless articles and was given tributes at every musical award show the year following his demise. 3 years later, I still see various public mentions of P (more than he was getting when alive) while seeing almost no mention of Lemonade unless searched for or it's in reference to Beyonce's most recent release. Funny how that works out.

What I've noticed from a distance is that her songs/videos tend to rocket to the top because of genuine interest from the beehive and the general public at large. But shortly after the hype of "something new from Beyonce" dies down, it's usually only the beehive still drooling at the mouth of her simply breathing. Whereas everyone else go on with their lives.

This pattern is probably not unique to Beyonce either.
