That Janet tribute was... neutral I feel she cheated her fans--why didnt she perform her new single No Sleeep? They started playing it after Ciara was done performing and when she came out, I thought she was gonna sing it but uh...she only accepted her award and then left. Seeing other people do her dance moves to her old hits was yawn Yeah she looked great, beautiful as always but I dont get why she didnt perform her new single. Even Smokey performed in his own tribute. Would have been great promotion for her new single and her upcoming album.

hmmm I was a tad let down that she didn't perform but I didn't feel cheated though. Things happen all the time, perhaps she was scheduled to perform but for other reasons unknown to the public, it just didn't happen and the best choice was for her to not perform. She hasn't been the first honoree to not perform either....wasn't it the BET Awards when Prince was honored but didn't perform a few years back? Sure, it would had been the highlight of the show if she would had performed but its not the end of the world either. She'll more than make up for it when she goes on tour. I was just thankful to have seen her show up, period. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Oh I felt cheated. I haven't watched the EBT Awards since that tragic ass 2009 "tribute" for Michael, so the ONLY and I do mean the ONLY reason I watched was because of the Janet Jackson would perform talk.

Here's what bothers ME:

Prince died of an overdose of the drug Fentanyl. Of which, it is very highly fucking likely that he never even knew he'd taken.

janet was never listed as a performer. fans took it upon themselves to confirm a performance and when it didnt happen they feel let down, i wasnt anticipating a performance because i took janet's advice and only believe what comes directly from her camp.

I didnt think she was going to perform either but when I saw her back up dancers dancing to her new song "No Sleeep" it gave off the impression that Janet was going to perform which is why I think some people felt "cheated." It could be what Missfee said that maybe she was schedule to perform but for some reason couldn't do it in the end.

This was the first BET Awards I've ever watched in full. I was only here for Ms. Jackson. I was hoping they wouldn't make us sit through the entire show to see her. But that's wishful thinking...because they did just that. The tribute was okay it would have been far better if Janet herself would have performed. But I was over the moon just to see her fine ass walk across that stage. It was also great to see Joe and Katherine there to support her. The crowd reaction to her was awesome. The MTV Icon show is still tops tho.

I knew she wasn't performing when Terrence J corrected himself on the red carpet, saying that she was accepting only. As it was, CiCi, Tinashe and Derulo did an awesome job. I knew that Ciara would kill it. I loved all the love Janet was getting from everyone. From the red carpet all the way through to the aftershow, her name was the one on everyone's lips. Oh, loved Smokey too lol.

Janet Jackson's 'No Sleeep' Debuts on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Charts

Radio helps power Jackson's comeback as her latest single launches. 'It's a perfect summertime groove,' one programmer beams.

Janet Jackson makes her Billboard chart return as "No Sleeep" debuts at No. 15 on the Adult R&B Songs chart (dated July 11) The sultry song marks her first entry on the list in five years; her last, "Nothing," peaked at No. 15 in May 2010.

"No Sleeep" grants Jackson her 27th hit on Adult R&B Songs (which originated in 1993), tying her with Faith Evans for third-most visits among women. Mary J. Bligeleads with 51, followed by Mariah Carey (33). The debut also earns Jackson her highest entrance ever on the chart.

The new single concurrently bows on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay at No. 27 with 6.7 million in first-week audience, according to Nielsen Music, marking her 36th hit on the chart. It's her highest debut in more than 20 years: "Scream," with brotherMichael, launched at No. 6 on June 3, 1995. Janet Jackson's "That's the Way Love Goes" remains the record-holder as the only song to debut at No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (May 1, 1993).

2015 BET Awards: Puffy's Salute to Bad Boy, Smokey Robinson & Janet Jackson Tributes Ring in Show's 15th Anniversary

An early supporter of "No Sleeep," adult R&B WDAS Philadelphia, played the track 22 times during the tracking week ending June 28. Derrick "DC" Corbett, the station's director of urban programming, tells Billboard that the song "just felt like us. It's a perfect summertime groove, and it's rare when you hear a song and everyone's opinion of the record within the building is ultra-positive. That, coupled with the fact that she's an icon that we all grew up with, made it a no-brainer for us.

"We're happy to be a small contributor to her success with ['Sleeep'], and it's exciting to have her back in the mix."

The single arrived on June 22, a week after Jackson announced her Unbreakable World Tour, which is slated to kick off in Vancouver, B.C. on Aug. 31, with the first leg of North American dates planned through Nov. 13.

"No Sleeep," produced by longtime collaborators Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, previews Jackson's upcoming studio album, due in the fall, her first since 2008'sDiscipline.

EXCLUSIVE: Janet Jackson Announces a Surprising New Venture

Getty Images

We'll take more Janet Jackson wherever we can get it!

On the heels of her stunning appearance Sunday at the 2015 BET Awards, the 49-year-old legend announced on Tuesday that she's also coming out with her own diamond jewelry line called the Janet Jackson Unbreakable Diamonds collection. Janet actually debuted the collection at the BET Awards, where she wore a heart-shaped necklace made with twenty-five carats of Fancy Intense Yellow diamonds (retailing at $2 million) as well as a thirteen carat Fancy Intense Yellow diamond ring (retailing at $500K).

Getty Images

... But seriously, can we talk about how she looks like she hasn't aged in the last decade?!

Janet will be wearing her new gems all throughout her upcoming Unbreakable World Tour, which is scheduled to kick off in Vancouver, B.C. on Aug. 31.

And the good news just keeps on coming for the "Rhythm Nation" singer. Her new single "No Sleeep" debuted Monday on the Billboard Adult R&B chart at #15, making it Janet's highest entrance ever on the chart.

That jewelry is MEGA expensive! But a very classy endorsement for Janet..

i love how she is just quietly doing things on her terms and letting it be about the music. i was surprised to see mainstream publications like cosmo and vanity fair as well as more alternative sources like spin and pitchfork list 'no sleeep' as their best new song of the week.
