How much of your assessment is subjective versus objective? I don't like Beyonce.

I think her voice is unpleasant. She can't dance (to my liking; she's no Janet Jackson).

And I think she's a moron; have you ever listened to her speak? She's inarticulate, a

telling sign, in my book, that she has not read much and ain't the sharpest knife in the

drawer.

But she's marketed ad nauseum because she's a legend already; that is an objective

fact of our reality, I'm afraid. She was m>Time magazine, fer chr

So let's be real herDayzeThe chick is a legend.

It seems like you argue just to be arguing. So, with that said, please forg Thanks.

Um, yes. I happened upon a post that I disagree with. I offer an opinion (Beyonce is a legend)

based upon facts (She has graced the cover of Time magazine, which is historically significant)

and you're throwing a hissy fit?

What's your deal? Someone challenges you and you fold like a lawn chair? If you see the ex-

change I had with Andy, you'll notice that he said something, I countered it, he countered what

I said, and it was pleasant. Stop acting like a wuss and back up your opinions, homie!

Hahaha....you sound new here to the org.
They're all midwaymostly winey babies here... then the rest like to follow you every post and aand antagonize you.
So glad pentI missed it!.....so glad to be back

Oh please are you serious? Your opinion is just that--an OPINION, your subjective point of view which is hardly based on facts lol You've got it totally backwards here--Beyonce is not marketed ad nauseum because she "already is a legend." With that kind of logic then that must mean Kim Kardashian is a legend too (after all she's marketed ad nause. and just graced the cover of GQ magazine--she can make covers like Beyonce too!) rolleyes

Beyonce is marketed ad nausesum because she pays for her publicity and hype machine to make ppl think she is this larger than life "legend" and reading the comments here I see ppl have unfortunately bought into her hype. Look, just because she made the cover of Time magazine doesnt make her a legend. I'm sure there were favor$ exchanged and deal$ made to buy her cover get her put on the cover. So in my book, no, she is not a legend because she hasnt dont anything legendary that will stand the test of time. That is my opinion but go ahead and disagree with it.

This makes no sense at all. So Michael paid fans to scream and faint at him? This makes absolutely no sense and is completely different from what Beyonce does.

I acknowledge that, so what is the point of this post? If people can express why they like her, why can't people express the opposite? Is this not a music message board? This post comes across childish and judgemental. So women who don't like Beyonce have low self esteem? So women who don't like Beyonce are jealous of her? This post sounds like something a 13 year old girl would write. There are legtimate and rational reasons why some do not care for her and they should be able to freely express that without being called haters or names.

If course you did....because that's what his publicist had the media report. But then people like Kurt Loeder have different re eithrecollections of how things went down.
From what I remember mtv really resented him during that period.

While I want to say no, Beyonce will be a legend based on her accolades alone. I don't know how people consider her iconic in any way outside of maybe her flawlessly gorgeous image. She's a great vocalist, not a great singer and her music in recent years isn't much to write home about. I think the love for Beyonce stems more from the early part of her career when she was still a part of DC as well as the first few years/ albums of her solo career that followed rather than ger entire career. Marrying Jay Z and creating what many consider to be a power couple certainly helped her as well although it never really seemed to be intimate or truly authentic and then they have a kid on top of that that people can't shut up about which ultimately comes back full circle to praising Beyonce. She's about 70% hype and press. If she is considered a legend down the line then I can't help but think her status will be pretty low when put on the same platform as people we consider legends now, especially women. Beyonce just hasn't impacted music like her predecessors have and it'll be even more obvious when she's lumped with the true elite. [Edited 9/1/14 11:28am]

^^ Yes, to this! nod I think she's on her way to that title but not quite there just yet JMHO. Beyonce has an amazing voice and beautiful imagry. Personally,I don't think her music is really growing. At times I feel that it's stunted or worsening. Her debut was a solid album in every aspect (ie, lyrically, vocally, production-wise, imagry etc.) and this is coming from a non-DC fan to a 'I like this song' Beyonce music listener. I can listen to her debut from beginning to end without hitting the skip button. With her latest album, I feel like the quality of the songs, lyrically moreso than production-wise, is weak at best compared to her first disc. Her sophomore album had some great tunes but not as many as its predecessor. However, I will bow down to the fact that this woman is one hell of an entertainer. You can't help but watch what she's doing when she performs because she has an amazing stage presence. She's legend bound based on many of the same factors that all current legends are based on at some point. Music is an ever-changing entity. What's popular today won't always be so popular in 5 years so for her to have had a career that has spanned 2 decades deserves big kudos. I do agree with Motown that if she is in the hall of legends, she's very far from the top and that includes several artists who started out at the same time as her. Personally, I think P!nk and Christina Aguilera are just as amazing (sometimes better) vocally than Bey. She's a legend-in-training for sure though.

I agree and also why is she just now being considered now that she's gone under the knife multiple times and has drastically whitened herself and now she's "gorgeous and flawless" to all these people who never felt that way before? I just don't get it. I need to leave this thread now. LOL. Adios!
