Death & Tragedy Songs

For 65 years straight, the #1 genre in music, selling wise, was rock n' roll worldwide. Last year (2017) in June, it got de-crowned by hip hop. Hip hop is the #1 genre. It's hip hop - rock - country - pop or pop - country. ~ Pras

First thing that comes to mind is Linton Kwesi Johnson's work, because some of my favourites of his are elegies. These two are particularly touching - the first written about the death of his father, and the second about a fellow poet who committed suicide.

You're good.

I love this record. I was playing Runaway a little while ago today.

mushy Love this song. I respect the 'stay positive' vibe that Stevie generally likes to put across, but it always moved me to hear him express something so raw and desolate as this.
