Screenshots of planned 2013 online store that never came to pass

First read https://twitter.com/LalaE...5651209216 , then read https://twitter.com/scott...7218876416 .

.
First tweet, by Lala Escarzega (background dancer in "Crimson and Clover", also in "Screwdriver"):

.

This is an unseen screenshot Prince sent to me years ago. In 2013, Prince was going to have a website released for Extraloveable video. This website featured a few other audio recordings. However, it wasn’t released because he changed his mind on how he wanted to premiere it.

..

Follow-up tweet by Scottie Baldwin (long-time front-of-house sound engineer for Prince):

.

All this work was done by Jason Franzen. Let’s give credit where credit is due. I introduced Jason to Prince in 2012. Jason shot the ‘Extraloveable’ video himself and edited the following day. We presented Prince with the idea to have releases in app called ‘ONE G1G.”

.

Click the links to see the screenshots. Note what's on offer.

.

Here is a smaller version of the most important screenshot, the large version is more easily readable:

Man... so many missed opportunities.

Hope this all sees the light of day and the Estate realizes how this would be a consistent source of revenue and fan engagement.

i don't think i've ever seen a more mind boggling example of "failing to capatalize on easy money" than the estate with the literal thousands of recordings they have, live or otherwise, that they know they'll never get around to releasing most of.

i just don't get it.

Yet another fan blaming the estate for failing to do in four years what Prince didn't do for decades.

I agree, it's a shame that the estate keeps holding back all the live stuff.

Yeah but did Prince fail to do it, or just change his mind, and get distracted?

He was one man with artistical whims and changing business priorities. He'd also made prior attempts at subscription models where the failure tag is more apt, and he might have watched the experiments giving content to Funkenberry and decided the model still wasn't ready.

The Estate obviously has the man power, and ability to make this site live, or bring it to fruition, but the people earning big salaries to manage projects have other ideas. The video content should have been free anyway.

Anecdotes ain't data. Prince never had any serious longlasting project. NPGMC changed significantly after one year, and that was perhaps the longest lasting. The rest of his online ventures were amateurish at best.

.

The estate is bound by litigation, and every second of unreleased music post-WBR seems to me to be in a state where they still haven't been able to draw up a contract with any entity.

Correct. NPGMC, and Funkenberry downloads, and making remixes/pre-realeases available through Amazon (like Funknroll) wasn't anecdotal.

What can be viewed as anecdotal is the idea that Prince couldn't perform on this site, and the Estate can't sort out the logistics and legalities. The Estate has done legacy reissues post WBR material, placed it free on Youtube, and licensed it for streaming. Dakota shows could be released the same way they put out P n M 1983.
