Guitar is a sleight of hand song about a woman. Do you really think Prince would name a song Guitar and have it be completely literal?

i think its more than for awhile. Prince didnt release guitar oriented single until 1991 and even after focus wasnt on guitar. in the 90s a lot of people didnt even know that Prince is a guitar player. he recovered after 2004 rnr hall performance of the Beatles song

"I could Never Take the place of your man" from 1987. Not guitar oriented?

I think the mastering of the album had a lot to do with that track being overlooked. IIRC, he laid new drums down over the old track so the drums drowned out the guitar a bit.

But you're right -- as the video shows, it is a guitar-driven song.

Forgot about "Batdance". That song had fucking everything going on. What a wonderful mess it is.

I still assert that, overall, there's a reason that a large segment of the music listening was being stunned, surprised and having their eyes opened as late as 2008 though. Our man could shred with anyone but the guitar was just one ingredient in his purple stew.
