If all of the 400.000 Prince fans

each pay $10

The poor soul/ignorent guy is out of trouble...

We all have the music, or heard it, right ?

-

Well, as you can count... it's Impossible.

There arn't even 400.000 Prince fans anymore (out there, alive...)

Bash me if I'm wrong.

Many of us would contribute to a go fund me for Boxill if someone started one. He has done more for the fans than CoAmerica, the Heirs or the record companies since his passing. He took a huge risk to give us his music. I agree that it was ill advised and perhaps a bit shady but he did give a moment of excitement that we had not felt since the release of Phase 2.

Jesus...!

Stop romanticising crime. If Boxill would've wanted to simply share these Prince tracks with the fans, he could've done so without fiddling with the tapes and without trying to profit from them. No – he wanted his name next to Prince's. He wanted to be credited as an equal partner in writing and producing. He wanted to cash in. End of story.

I'm not romanticizing it any more than the fans who openly support those who have betrayed Prince, i.e., Berry and McMillen. Some of y'all going to be in line at the book signing for a person who tried to sell his hair and socks but want to judge those who support someone that actually freed some of his music for our enjoyment. I agree that the fact that he tried to profit is a problem, but how is that any different from other bootleggers?

I'm just saying that when I look at the parties who are involved, my vote would go to Boxill. Some of the heirs, CoAmerica and the record companies have disrespected Prince more than Boxill ever could.

Show me another bootlegger who had the nerve to try to claim they co-wrote, co-produced and co-owned the Prince tracks they put out FOR PROFIT. And stop talking nonsense such as "he freed the music".

.

Let's start with many of his former band members and studio engineers that sold bootleg tapes to bootleggers for profit and who are now fluent in French talking about "oui" co-wrote, co-produced, etc., various songs.

And he did free the music. But for his efforts, we would have never heard Deliverance, etc.

.

Let's start. Name just one who has released a bootleg by claiming co-OWNERSHIP of the masters and claiming they co-wrote and co-produced the tracks with Prince.

.

And again: "freeing the music" would've been simply by leaking it, not by trying to stick his name on it for profit.

Not leaving a will is exactly what I would do if people think it's ok to -

...he was doing something that Prince would not have released.
...he did free the music.
...was ill advised and perhaps a bit shady but he did give a moment of excitement

- steal music from Prince. He must have hated reading this kind of stuff sooo much. Fanatics justifying laying claims to the asylum.

Interesting read. It's a shame it has all come to this.

It's ironic, ''The estate protects the music Prince created aggressively,'' when they haven't done anything in THREE years the fans have universally liked.

The Estate do make themselves come across as an incompetent mess.

Because you gotta scare other chancers who were planning to do the same.

How do you manage to find 4M when you're a regular folk?? And what happens if you don't? eek

Pretty sure they aren't getting 4M from this guy, and it will probably be a long wait if they get any cash at all. Just because you win a lawsuit or file one, doesn't mean that you automatically get money. Just look at Nicole Simpson's folks, still trying to get money out of OJ that they sued for and won.

Wow, so this dudes life is ruined now? No way he has 4m dollars. Common sense should have told him he didn't have the right to release this, but wow, that is quite the punushment for somoene who made no money off the release.
