i don't think anyone has ever mentioned anything. they were re-recorded around the time
when security became a lot more tight so i don't think anything got out.

the only things re-recorded that we heard are the 1999 new master and a few vault tracks
like "large room with no light" and such, although technically those aren't rerecordings.

i for one would like to hear those albums, even buy them if they were even released. it'd
be interesting to put them in super deluxe packages of remastered studioalbums.

i'm pretty sure it wasn't. i've always collected everything that was officially
available, on any website such, but that doesn't ring a bell for me.

No, PM predates them. But they have been said to sound similarly.

No, but the snippets from Endorphinmachin, Dance On and Let's Work that were available in the remixing room of P's website crica 2003 were suspected to come from those.

And of course there was 1999: The New Master.

The Purple Medley isn't sampled; it's not a cut&paste job, as far as I know. It was performed/recorded as it is, therefore it can be considered a rerecording too.

A friend of mine works at Paisley and basically she mispoke. She meant to say "Remastered" not "Re-records" or whatever word" she said. What albums or songs exactly these are we dont know. It's possible these are Prince's remasters of the WB material. Beyond what I said thats all I know.

I don't think S&C was part of that as it was recorded for yet another project, but who knows...

TMBGITW, I don't think it's related either.

Could you elaborate on that? I was under the impression 1999 TNM was a re-record.

Of course Large Room is a full rerecording, IDK what nonsense Isten is saying. Probably confusing it with another track.

.

1999TNM can be argued as being a remix because it uses several elements from the original (at least the linn drum machine and the opening "Don't worry" vocals, and I'm pretty sure the main synth line, some other synth and sound effects, P's background vocals, if not his lead voice but I'd have to compare both recordings). You could argue this is more like sampling parts of the old one but after all certain maxi-single remixes in the 90's were nearly entirely rerecorded but just because they retained a few elements from the original, if only the vocals or a few sounds, they were considered remixes. I actually hadn't thought of that and had dubbed 1999TNM a rerecording on my discography entry, but I now realize it was a mistake and I'll have to consider it a remix.

Well I've just read it in your post and it wasn't very exciting, I think you'll be disappointed the day you read it yourself.

Now maybe hearing it would be a better experience...

ho now lol

what i meant was that the original was never released and if we go on how prince spoke of such
releases, we have to say 'In A Large Room With No Light was never more than a demo or just a
working version until prince pulled it up again and decided to finish it'.

i know that's rediculous in a way, since i'm sure 100% of the released version are new tracks,
with nothing original surviving in that mix. but technically it's not a re-recording if the song was
never finished in the first place, let alone released.

In that sense yes, but it was confusing in the context of the conversation, given that it was about rerecording vs. remix.

What's happening? Isn't the released version of In A Large Room With No Light from a 2009 band rehearsal? Totally new recording of the song. The 1986 version might be a rough mix, but not an unfinished demo.

Some fans seem to consider every unreleased track in the vault is, by definition, unfinished. It's a valid POV in the sense that we cannot say, for any of them, whether Prince would have toyed with them furthermore or not for release, but on the other hand of course, it's likely that a great number of them, including Large Room, are likely to have reached their most further point of development even though being unreleased.

Just playing devils advocate for a second... In theory he could have re-recorded the entire song? He still had the old equipment?

How was it confirmed to be a remix rather than a re-recording? If it was a remix it points towards well preserved tapes?
