Surely 112lbs (8 stone) is typical of a petite 5ft 3" person?

Also, did he have hip surgery in 2010 (which would explain the scar)? Conflicting reports on the net some say yes others no. Always thought his jw beliefs meant he couldn't.

Just checked. Healthy weight.

That is normal for that height. Karen Carpenter died at a normal weight, not at her lowest weight. She had gained weight back and had a heart attack which is a very common thing with people with severely disordered eating.

I noticed on the document that it says that the investigation is still ongoing........

I agree. This info is very sparse. I don't know if it's normal or not, but I had an 18 year old son that died, among other close members, and their certificates were much more detailed, with a lot more information. Personally, I think that this was doctored to give the public the least most possible detail they wanted to.

Agreed. Enough is enough. The cause is clear and no amount of either denial or judgement will change that.

I think the media sounds slightly disappointed that it was fentanyl. I think these vultures were hoping for a mix of opioids, cocaine, and meth with a hooker in his house. One reporter on my local radio station actually asked the other reporter at least 3 times "they only found fentanyl in his system?" I'm about to do a self imposed media blackout because they are all horrible people. None of this tarnished his legacy for me anyway.

For anyone that wants to freak out about his weight -- he had the ideal weight for someone at 5 foot 3 inches. In fact, he was overweight by nearly half a pound.

i think you might be talking about the drug dealer who said that prince had stage fright, that part right there made me dismiss him. Prince loved the stage and that's probably had something to do with his problems.

I am just at a supreme loss. I almost feel as though I'm making my depression worse trying to combat the negative. Addict is not a bad word, it is semantics. This is why people are ashamed. We all have at least one point used the word druggie to describe someone, but when it happens to a great person that you know (even if from a distance); it is Dismissed. I believe that dependency and addiction are two different waves on the same spectrum that makes it incredibly clear that one has an affinity for something.

We need to be more kind to eachOther as well, because many "junkies" don't actually just want to be "druggies", but feel helpless and it becomes a routine. Think about the trauma that is happening to their mental health?

I have struggled with eating issues (binge eating) for I guess a "long time" and I am 23. I have gained about 70 pounds and 25 of them in about 5 weeks. Of the first four weeks 18 pounds gained. When I try at times to stop thinking about food, I'm unsuccessful, it becomes something else: and much like other dependencies or addictions, it takes a lot of effort. While this is not a serious case of somethings tragic to anyone but me, I think we all can just be better people by recognizing that not everything is a conspiracy. I think we all can read between the lies and discover that. This is simply what it was. It was an overdose of a toxic synthetic painkiller.

If this angers you, think of how much pain he was livin with instead.

In my head, I want to see him as the 26 year old he once was but we need to do a little bit better. I try, and I keep that thought in my head. I wasn't around in the 80s but after seeing some of the stunts and dancing that he used to do, a lot of this makes sense.im not ruling out his possible illnesses. I am however ruling out that this is not true. Unfortunately, it is and it makes it worse in some way because there may never be a resolve to our pain.

After much retrospection, I feel deep sorrow for anyone who has ever dealt with a loss. I am going through much triumph in my personal life and often feel as though I don't know how to continue when tragedy like this happens. In fact, it doesn't take much for me to feel broken. I am absolutely devastated right now, I am almost embarrassed because I'm sure people don't understand why. I have found great comfort being amongst other Prince family(supporters) because he shaped much of our thoughts and actions deeply. I am just in pain that he was found where he was. The confirmation of an overdose makes it all the more worse for me, because it means he shut down in an elevator alone, and had no one needed him that day, it could have even been a longer amount of time taken for someone to discover he was dead.

I can't imagine the trauma they must feel also. It's an image I did not see, but an image that is plastered in my head as though a large portion of my adolescence revolved around it.

I just wish and hope that we can cherish his memory and respect him for not just the music but the man that he was. Arguably, none of us "knew" him (maybe some), but we knew a lot, and we loved a lot. I do believe that deep down it was reciprocated in its own ways. The mere fact that he would open up his space to fans said so much. A man in high demand, for the last 40 years never stopped loving the one thing that really was his purpose: music.

I am so sorry Prince, that you had to go so fast and go this way. May we all find so much comfort in eachOther. I love you all for being very open about Prince because I have felt alone with this in my outside life, and it's a great help. I'm definitely emotional about this as one can think as I'm sure you all are too.

I know for a fact that seeking help is not easy for any triumphant unhealthy issue. It is similar to try and get someone help for immense depression, they go through withdrawal symptoms and believe they are often okay. Usually, they are only okay for a little while until something triggers hem again. Dependency and addictions go the same way, a lot of it is mental and habitual. We must encourage eachOther to break the cycle.

Let us not "blame" Prince, even if it is his "fault" that this circumstance happened. It is so harsh and insensitive, a man who did not want to go that way. It is no less of a tragic situation than a suicide or homicide, it was an accident. Death is death no matter what and unfortunately, no matter he cause- it still hurts. The more we learn for years to come? Will hurt.

I pray for us all, I pray for his friends, past friends, past relations, and family. I pray for so much peace because I can't get over this. The pharmaceutical industry is the biggest drug lord of them all. I cannot be angry at it alone, because medicine and the ability to produce medicine is a blessing due to all that exists in the world. However, understanding how the med field works, many doctors are insincere, and sure: they meant not want to kill or harm anybody, but they want to get paid.

Sorry for the length, RIP PRINCE

Fentanyl Toxicity:

Fentanyl is a prescription synthetic opiate analgesic used for the treatment of severe pain. As an opioid, fentanyl binds with the opiate receptors of the brain when used, creating a sense of euphoria and relaxation in the user. With repeated use, those around the user may notice fentanyl overdose symptoms as the result of the user having taken too large a dose. Overdoses from narcotic painkillers like fentanyl can be extremely serious with long-lasting, if not fatal, consequences. As such, knowing how to recognize the signs of fentanyl use as well as the symptoms of an overdose can help those around the user realize the danger early and seek treatment before serious consequences of an overdose can occur.

I assume you've been saying this about all the speculative threads over the last 5 weeks, right? To not do so would of course be inconsistent. Now we have something official, based on actual fact, it seems a rather odd time to try and pull up the drawbridge.

As for the hip - I noticed in a few performances in recent years, that he stood awkwardly while playing the piano. Putting more weight on his right than left.

"Ideal weight" is a range. There's also multiple ways to calculate "Ideal Weight". In none of them would 112 be overweight for 5'3". He was in an "Ideal Weight" range, but lets not put out the idea that he was overweight.

Exactly... I don't know why everyone is so scared of using the term addiction. It is not a pejorative term.

The fentanyl probably made him extremely sleepy so he got in the elevator to go to his apt and sleep but the drug is so strong it knocked him out, he couldn't fight it off. The only way to save him would have been if someone found him within minutes of him passing out. Fentanyl overdoses are not exactly a sign of drug abuse. My grandma had colon cancer, she was prescribed Narcanon, a fentanyl film/pill that dissolves in your mouth and Percoccet for pain during radiation and chemotherapy. She had to be watched intently because there were times she would put the pill/film in her mouth and it would dissolve and she would forget she took it and take another one and would be asleep for 12 plus hours. It really could happen to anyone who isn't vigilant and taking the meds based on the pain they feel instead of following the directions for treatment. Depending on the dosage fentanyl can relieve pain for 24 hours or more. If you're taking percoccet as well, it's a recipe for disaster. Prince didn't have cancer or a reason to be prescribed such a powerful drug. There is a reason he was taking it, hip pain, recreational use, underlying health conditons etc. But don't assume anything because many celebrities are prescribed medications under aliases or by other means to keep their health information private and away from the media. We are talking about controlled substances here so if there was any illegal activity, someone will be charged with a crime. This is too high profile for it to be swept away quietly and at that point we will know more about Prince's condition. But if no one is charged then it's possible that was Prince's meds but gotten through some other means to protect his identity and his health records. This is just stuff off the top of my head. I'm really heartbroken but now I know he fell asleep and wasn't in pain the moment he died. Just so sad no one got in that elevator to check on him.

Normal weight ranges for 5'3 vary according to sex and age.

What I was referring to though was the dosage of medication in refererence to his weight, rather than if his weight was normal or not.
