Maybe I'm just free falling through various stages of grief but something about this whole fucking mess is seriously disturbing my spirit! disbelief bawl sigh mad

[Edited 6/2/16 11:06am]

Here's what bothers ME:

Prince died of an overdose of the drug Fentanyl. Of which, it is very highly fucking likely that he never even knew he'd taken.

You're thinking of Van Jones.

Van Hunt is a singer/songwriter.

--/ Yes, I am still shocked that as an attorney he would have some doctor send his son with meds by plane when P could have gone to the Betty Ford clinic down the street or called 911 that is what you do when someone is ill.

Well put

The Doctor from CA is a leading expert in this particular therapy. He sent his son to MN with bupro with the intent of joining him and Prince in a day or two. In the meantime, Prince had been seen by a local MN doctor who was monitoring the situation. There wasn't an advantage in going to the Betty Ford clinic, other than merely being around other people. And, sad but true, Prince didn't want to be around other people. The plan Prince and his close friends/associates had was much better than just calling 911. Sadly, accidents happen sometimes.

I am just so depressed. Each day that has passed, I feel very empty. I've just been eating a lot to cope. I know I've never met him but it is so tragic and he really meant a lot to me as he did all of us. It just hurts so badly.

I would just like to ask of those of you who are saying "it's not true, Prince was not a drug addict," to have some empathy for people who are drug addicts. Prince overdosing didn't make him a "druggie" and that's something to understand. Being a "druggie" and someone who has a dependency are one in the same but two very different things. Prince could have been using these for a short while or long while, it's unsure. It's just very unfair to deny the truth no matter how impartial and vague it is. That was the cause, now what we can and should do is propose question.

The WHY's are far more important than the delusional doubt. We should investigate and research as to why, how, where, from whom, mental health, physical health, Etc.

Just because he overdosed doesn't mean it stops there, that is just what they're linking it as now.

Please let us be rational and kind without rioting and picketing online because it's not very helpful. It is a very strange and bizarre situation that I believe us org family can try to figure out with tactic, sincerity, research, and fact.

Many hugs to all

Is this official news from toxicology and autopsy report or BS?

[Edited 6/2/16 11:12am]

If its the truth from the reports then I personally have no recourse than to believe a plan was made for retirement or our man was murdered!

In either case we will never know nor will we ever have justice! mad

No other details available e.g why he was taking them etc..the hip pain and for how long. It feels like a crumb of news to appease the masses asking why results have taken so long. I doubt we will get anymore nrws and this is it. Who kmows.

It is very, very sad! But unfortunately it doesn't change anything about the fact he's not among us anymore. And that, to me, still is the saddest and hardest part of this horrible story.

Prince, eye yes U and that will never change! Damn, eye miss U my friend!!!

--/ I think when we get the official report we are going to find he had other medical issues. He may have mixed the pain meds with other things. I have taken percocets and there is no why he could be bopping around on just those pills. Those percocets have you coma.

Sounds like he has been hooked on percocets for a long time, for his chronic pain. He lasted a long time. I took one percocet for pain and it caused me to have a heart attack when I was in my early 30's. I cannot imagine popping percocets all day, for years, and not dying sooner. Oh God, how sad and tragic. I miss him dearly. I wish him love, I wish him heaven. RIP sweet Prince.

If you look back over pics and appearances over the last 6-8 months or so, he looks a bit pale and glass eyed. I'm still reasonably confident that Prince knew he was ill, outside of the prescription pain killers.

We'll see over the following days.

I re-read a story at the Daily Fail's website, the other day, from last New Year's Eve.

It's the comments which are telling.

Yes, I know that Daily Mail commenters are a trolling bunch of morons, but so many commenters on this article display shock that he looks ill.

http://www.dailymail.co.u...party.html

I think that fans may not have been shocked by his gaunt appearance, as his gradual weight loss wasn't as apparent when viewed on a regular basis.

Non-fans saw that something wasn't right, without being prompted. By the Daily Mail's standards, that article wasn't even all that snarky, or "leading" in any way.

Do you all have a boat load of questions running through your head? I do, here are some;

If it was truly an op/od, when did he start taking them?

Who perscribed them?

Were the doctors watching him for addiction?

Did he hide the fact that he might be taking too much?

Did he think that he will get it taken care of, but couldn't make the time with touring schedule?

Was his death a combination of things - exhaustion, medication, not eating, not sleeping?

Did his body just give up with all combined?

Did he take other medications and they were not supposed to be taken together?

Did the doctors give him too much dosage?

What was the timeline? He was there in the elevator for "6 hours" - found at 9:40. So death was at approx. 3:40? What time was he dropped off? What was his demeanor at that time? Edgy, tired, happy?

Why was he left alone if he had just come through this harrowing ordeal? ( do realize that you did what you were told if on the payroll - I don't think Prince messed around or minced his words)

Did he accidentally take too much - forget when his last dose was? Accidental overdose?

Did he end his life on purpose? Was he fighting depression as well?

From what I know, these drugs can make you do things out of character.

I know the 'full report" will be out tomorrow but I am not holding my breath to find out anything new.

Personally I find it hard to believe he was addicted - but not out of the realm of possibility I suppose. I think there is ALOT we don't know and may never know. But I do know one thing, he's still gone from us. And I am devestated and really mad! He didn't have a terminal illness that couldn't have been helped. He allegedly had a problem, a problem that could've been addressed and therfore a death that could've been prevented. My heart breaks for him, for his family and friends and for us. Thanks again for this site and all your help in answering questions, sharing pictures and stories and having lively, respectful conversations about our beloved Prince. Peace, Love and Healing to you all.

sad sad sad Too many questions. It's too painful.

Percocet is something I've taken about three years ago after a surgery I had and now I'm 23. Percocet is absolutely terrible, it makes you vomit and feel ill. It's ludicrous to me that people write songs about using it recreationally and nothing happens to them.

I think with a combination of his eating patterns, his fasting, and dependency (understandable of the cause) it all would add up.

Yes, and I accept it as fact. It's not beyond the realm of possibilty that Prince was hooked on opiates, which likely caused sudden cardiac arrest. It's unfortunate that one of the greatest musicians of the past 100 years abruptly died in his 50s. neutral

what. you need to understand that when you reach a certain stage, these things are taken out of the hands of people who "don't want to be around other people". That when you "die" 3 or 4 days earlier, you lose your options of what you can and cannot do. If people didn't take this out of his hands and he ends up dead, there might be criminal charges. Let's just let every suicidal person or addict decide for themselves then what they want to do. This is tragic and unnecessary. If you care about someone who is an addict and is showing self destructive tendencies you watch them like a hawk. BEEN THERE.

This really isn't news based upon what was already known about the treatment he sort. I guess for myself, the curiousity surrounding this has to do with another reason for him not immediately being entered into a treatment facility after the incident on the plane. I know that Prince is a grown man and could chose not to enter rehab but it still seems irresponsible to have left him home alone after such a close call. What saddens me more is the thought that he may have been in denial about the severity of the problem *if he chose to be left alone* or if he was just concerned about image/public perception. The truth of the matter is that Prince is LOVED by me eternally and it doesn't matter if he had a problem because he would still be loved. I wish he had gone into rehab and just still been here with us. He never needed to answer to me about what was going on in his personal life. I really wish he knew that we loved him anyway. He saved me too many times for me to be judging him about his life.

Sad. I know people who have chronic pain and were addicts... Nothing to joke about. Living life in pain is no joke. But the good thing is that at least Prince isn't in pain anymore.

F the Media! Nothing but BS LIES!

The man did not do drugs to the point of Death at age 57!

He was healthy.

Something smells, and it's worse than burnt pasta on the stove! mad evil

The insinuation by the Media that we his fans would believe all this BS is what also pisses me F ing off! mad evil

The only thing that is going to keep me going in life is knowing that Prince is not alone up there in heaven, if that is where he is. He also does not have to watch his back anymore. Here on earth alive he always had to be in control all the time. Now he will never be persecuted by this evil media merchant of chaos world like Bill Cosby. Why stick around for all that BS to look forward too. He is in a better place dead or alive!

Someone asked if it would make a difference if he had a terminal or otherwise very serious illness. Yes, to me it would.

I have lost two of the most important men in my life. Both had terminal cancer, neither of them died from that. It is actually a relief for me to know that they did not die in agony from the cancer and that makes it alright that they died from something preventable. It was an easier death than the one waiting for them a little further down the road.

A third most important man in my life also had terminal cancer, but unfortunately he died from it.

If it turns out that Prince had something like cancer, it will be easier to deal with for me at least than him just dying from a totally preventable overdose just before help arrived. And if it hadn't happened he could have lived to be 100. That would be impossible to bear.

For those stressing about a tarnished legacy, pain killer addiction is far too common a situation for that to tarnish anything. Anyone that uses that reason to tarnish Prince's reputation has been living under a rock and/or is only grandstanding for attention (sales/popularity). If an opiod overdose is what happened, obviously, we can't wish it away, being concerned about his legacy. Hopefully, this outcome will prompt others (or those in their circle) to get help if they have even the slightest notion that something is amiss.

The rubbish commentary about him not taking "drugs" aka prescription medication are very ludicrous. Some of you fail to realize that you're insulting Prince and many people that unfortunately have been found in similar predicaments. Many of us in our lives, with choice, will succumb to the pharmaceutical industry, now imagine you are in pain? How dare anyone say that he was not taking these things? He was in pain. No one should be judging Prince or others who face that same battle, it is very hard to live with a sickness or pestilential pain.

It's so in sensitive and it doesn't and should not taint our image of Prince because that does not mean he was a "druggie". Please understand that he had a very large dependency on these pills, and if brought fatality, it could have caused many issues.

From your link. eek

Fentanyl's most common side-effects (more than 10% of patients) include diarrhea, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, somnolence, confusion, asthenia (weakness), sweating, and less frequently (3 to 10% of patients) abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, anorexia and weight loss, dizziness, nervousness, hallucinations, anxiety, depression, flu-like symptoms, dyspepsia (indigestion), dyspnea (shortness of breath), hypoventilation, apnea, and urinary retention. Fentanyl use has also been associated with aphasia.[6]

Despite being a more potent analgesic, fentanyl tends to induce less nausea, as well as less histamine-mediated itching, in relation to morphine.[33]

Fentanyl may produce more prolonged respiratory depression than other opioid analgesics.[34][35][36][37][38][39][40] In 2006 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began investigating several respiratory deaths, but doctors in the United Kingdom were not warned of the risks with fentanyl until September 2008.[41] The FDA reported in April 2012 that young children had died or become seriously ill from accidental exposure to a fentanyl skin patch.[42
