Denial and conspiracy theories won't change anything and neither will condemnation. Prince made his own choices and we have no idea how he felt, nor the pain he was in.

The results are clear and conclusive. No further details are required - only acceptance.

SpinsterSister

I was given a script for Fentanyl for complicated bilateral carpal tunnel, something that flares up from time and time today. My doc gave me another script after exam but didn't take the whole bottle of the first, still have 'em. I am back in the pits.....I was feeling like, maybe, he really did just bug out...wishful thinking but the six odd weeks since his reported departure, I've just been soaring on his music to help me get through it all. Now, I'm numb and just can't move, my heart feels like it's slowing down and I'm ready to sleep for a long, long time. Where do we go from here? Another nail in the coffin, sometimes the only thing that gets a person through whatever is music, drugs, sex, alcohol, shutting away....what is playing is the boot from his Atlanta show featuring Black Sweat, damn that was only a few days before he landed in Moline.........I can't hear him now. Ready for long sleep.
Need me some fuzzy love....and yes, I wear clear heels

He wasn't wearing shoes when he died.

I don't even know why I find this upsetting. It just is.

I always had this idea that Prince was always being Prince 24/7.

I guess whatever pain he was in, was eased by not wearing shoes.

From your link. eek

Fentanyl's most common side-effects (more than 10% of patients) include diarrhea, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, somnolence, confusion, asthenia (weakness), sweating, and less frequently (3 to 10% of patients) abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, anorexia and weight loss, dizziness, nervousness, hallucinations, anxiety, depression, flu-like symptoms, dyspepsia (indigestion), dyspnea (shortness of breath), hypoventilation, apnea, and urinary retention. Fentanyl use has also been associated with aphasia.[6]

Despite being a more potent analgesic, fentanyl tends to induce less nausea, as well as less histamine-mediated itching, in relation to morphine.[33]

Fentanyl may produce more prolonged respiratory depression than other opioid analgesics.[34][35][36][37][38][39][40] In 2006 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) began investigating several respiratory deaths, but doctors in the United Kingdom were not warned of the risks with fentanyl until September 2008.[41] The FDA reported in April 2012 that young children had died or become seriously ill from accidental exposure to a fentanyl skin patch.[42

Hate to grasp the Somnolence word, but his problem was he couldn't sleep, was awake for days... His chef said he was only eating mild liquid foods lately because of upset stomachs and some abdominal pain.

Yeah, that was unexpected. Fentanyl is some crazy shit.

There were rumblings of fentanyl abuse via patches, albeit tabloidy type stories, but it was out there.

That Fentanyl stuff sounds horrible. He must have been in a lot of pain. Also, I think we will probably have to accept that we will not know everything about this. I'm not even sure we should - some things are just private. And even official reports read on live TV under oath by Obama won't stop conspiracy speculations. That's just how people are.

Don't know if you look at posts on some of his very early pictures there is a thin scar that goes around his left hip. So unless it was a very early surgery?

That's what I think.

Some people and myself have recently noticed a scar on his left hip the other day, it was on an old photo (from early eighties). When I saw it I thought that he might even have had a hip problem history like a lot of children have in early childhood (a very common thing). Just a thought.

The one time they tried the patch on me about 5 years ago, prior to me really educating myself about these drugs, one put me out like a light for days. Woke up in more pain but sick as a dog. Took back to dr immediately. Exactly why I refused this last time around. Plus I had read about the dangers of it.

But what about the autopsy, was the Fentanyl for a specific problem, it is a cancer drug. What test results was the Dr. taking to him the day he was found dead. There are still so many unanswered questions.

Fentanyl is not just a cancer drug - stop spreading alarmist falsehoods. Fentanyl is used for a wide range of pain management such as osteoporosis, arthritic pain, and yes hip pain before and post surgery. Do some research and educate yourself... …and quit with the conspiracy theories and burying your head in the sand.

Rude much, I'm stating what CNN had said.

I am zeroing in on the "self administered" fentynal patch. What does that mean exactly? It was just put on by him or he acquired it without prescription?

According to the National Institute of Health fentanyl should be used only to treat breakthrough cancer pain (sudden episodes of pain that occur despite around-the-clock treatment with pain medication) in cancer patients at least 18 years of age (or at least 16 years of age if taking Actiq brand lozenges) who are taking regularly scheduled doses of another narcotic (opiate) pain medication, and who are tolerant (used to the effects of the medication) to narcotic pain medications. This medication should not be used to treat pain other than chronic cancer pain

this is why we need proof so rumors don't spiral out of control. People still say Jimi hendrix was murdered, in fact, I think the doc who did his autopsy said that, turns out he had his license yanked by the time he said this because he was a quack.

We don't need more evidence to prevent ridiculous tumors and conspiracy theories from taking off. Small gaps in the available evidence don't demand crazy speculation. It's not 0 or 100 here. That's a logical fallacy.

maybe not from you or me, but so people don't run off with craziness. Did he have cancer? Did he have anything else? Was it just pain? Personally, it would be a lot easier to swallow if he had some terminal disease, it's hard to accept another hero dying from something so foolish.

Yes should but also In those tolerant to other narcotics w chronic pain. I'm speculating here, using my own experiences, that the percocet no longer controlled the pain. And you can't keep taking more and more if it BC the Tylenol will shut your organs down

There comes a point with chronic pain that Percocet doesn't help. Next option is fentanyl. My doctor tried to prescribe it years ago. I told him no way I would deal with the pain because there isn't anything that is much stronger and I wanted more options, God forbid for the future. Unless you live with chronic pain every day, you have no idea what it is like. So it didn't surprise me that he was taking fentany. I pass no judgment on Prince and never will. Chronic pain is horrible. I know first hand.

fuck yea it's horrible, i got sick off some bad chicken or something a few weeks ago, at some point, you start thinking that death would be better. Those episodes end though, at least for me, I have sympathy for those in chronic pain, i've seen them and feel badly for them and their limited futures.

If he'd been dead for six hours before they found him, that would put the time of death at around 3 a.m. I don't think shoeless is that weird, considering.

He wasn't 5'3 and the report isn't saying so either. It says 63", which equals 5'25.

Oh, God.

Self-administered possibly means that the drug wasn't prescribed...

...Which means that the Daily Mail's story from April 23rd, about a Fentanyl dealer is probably true.

http://www.dailymail.co.u...ction.html

I'd never even heard of Fentanyl before. And there it is, in that shady story, two days after he passed.
