People don't go on his show for their health. He has massive power so they go on to promote themselves. Also why you tend to not see leftists on his show.

Maher complained for years that Obama wouldn't do an interview because of his power.

.

That he has a show that will allow people to promote themselves is not a measure of the comedic host's power. It is just a result of the show's size of audience.

.

People from all sides choose which shows they will go on because it is the guests that have this power. That Maher cannot get people from one side or people with real power like the president on his show is a demonstration that he does not have the power or influence that the interviewed person recognises or wants. Has Trump been on Real time or is he just as dismissive of Maher's "power" as Obama was?

[Edited 6/26/19 22:01pm]

And remember, Obama eventually did go on his show.

It's usually conservatives who are afraid to go on, because Maher will grill them mercilessly (see if you can find a clip of Trump apologist Matt Schlapp sitting there looking as uncomfortable as hell as Maher read off an imaginary book called "What if Obama did it ?", which listed some of Trump's transgressions and speculated how right wingers would have responded if Obama was accused of those same things)

Steve King is racist colon cancer trash vomit. Bill Maher is not.

But, as expected, you'll find (as you see here,) those who will defend King from the charges of racism. I guess making a joke is a LOT WORSE that supporting open White Supremacists (as King has done). But when you're a mindless partisan, you defend your people no matter what ...

Yes, but which one?

.

The contradiction between people rejecting advances to go on his show because of his style of humour and lack of consistency on issues and him having real power to push his issues? The non-contradictory position is that it is a show that plays to its audience for the LOLs.

.

The contradiction between the view that people need to go on his show to promote themselves and people refusing to go his show. The non-contradictory position is that the guests have the power to determine whether to go on the show or not and as a comedic host who plays it for the LOLs, his influence is not that powerful.

.

The contradiction between your opinion that it is people from the left that fear his agenda and jj's that it is people from the right who fear him and it is his style of humour that people reject? The non-contradictory position is that he plays it for the LOLs and people choose to go on his show or not based on this.

.

The contradiction between power and merely reflecting the prevailing wind? The non-contradictory position is to not argue he has power to promote his issues and then argue he has no issues and just puts his finger up in the wind.

.

The contradicton between an argument that it is the left and not the right that refuses to go on the show that relies on Obama refusing to go on the show (when apparently he did go on the show), and that this argument fails to take into account that the current president from the right has also refused to go on the show. The non-contradictory position is that it is comedy show and it does not serve a president to go on it until their lame duck phase in their final term.

.

The contradiction between the topic that people in your country have a problem that they are too like Maher and your subsequent posts just about Maher and not that people that are too like him?

.

The contradiction within a person who claims to be a consistent anarchist radical since the 1990s but starts threads promoting government enforced regulations and complains about inconsistency in ideology in a comedic TV show host.

Some wouldn't do his show because of his POLITICAL INCORRECTNESS... he will make a joke out of almost anything (including positions he personally agrees with). And some are uncomfortable with that brand of humor

Exactly. He is POLITICALLY INCORRECT. A free thinker, something 2freaky says he admires.

Going after Obama for the zillionth time is not helping. 2freaky thinks BO had to be PERFECT to get any props, along with every other black leader - the newest being Kamala Harris.

Plenty of "leftists" go on Maher's show, like the majority of Hollywood. Most right wingers run from the show, c'mon.

politics: the art or science of government.

True- Maher usually thanks the right wingers who come on for having the guts to face a hostile audience and his tough questions. Before he was totally disgraced, Bill O'Reilly would occasionally appear. Bill would thank him, while chastising Hannity and Limbaugh for refusing to come to a venue where they would be challenged and not be surrounded by sychophants
