The revenant 2.75 out of 5. Very well acted. Especially Tom and Leo. Beautiful landscape, but it's a revenge/hardship story, you can only go so far (Although, I don't see how you could have done better.).

The Revenant (2015) Poster

Then why 2.75 out of 5

Story is mainly about revenge/hardship that can only go so far in a story. It's limited to 2 main plot points. That doesn't make it that interesting to me-that said, I don't think they could have been a better version of this revenge/hardship story. It's limitation is it's plot.

If you love revenge/hardship plots you will love this movie.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

The Hateful Eight (2015) - In the dead of a Wyoming winter, a bounty hunter and his prisoner find shelter in a cabin currently inhabited by a collection of nefarious characters.

The dialogue wasn't as great as usual for a Tarantino film. 3/5

Seeking a Friend at the End of the World (2012)

Nicely done romantic dramedy full of funny cameos and played by Steve Carell (as, well essentially, Steve Carell) and Keira Knightley (as, well essentially, Keira Knightley). Martin Sheen has a great turn at the end of the film. An ideal movie for a snowpacalypse.

The One I Love (2014)

A cutesy, indie premise with a shaded, noirish twist.

Straight Outta Compton (2015) - The group NWA emerges from the mean streets of Compton in Los Angeles, California, in the mid-1980s and revolutionizes Hip Hop culture with their music and tales about life in the hood.

I watched the director's cut which may have been a mistake because I felt it went on a little too long. And like many biopics, it glossed over some of the uglier truths about the subjects (specifically Dr. Dre). It's still a good movie though. 3.5/5

How could anyone remain a Roman Catholic after seeing this movie?

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) - A woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in postapocalyptic Australia in search for her home-land with the help of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper, and a drifter named Max.

What a thrilling spectacle. Impressive all around. 4/5

I only watched it because it's on the Oscar nominations list. Sometimes I feel a movie is wrongly maligned in the press and is just misunderstood, but not this one. It deserved every bad review it got.

thumbs up! I loved this. And yes, had to cover my eyes for Smokey. wink

John Gascot told me to watch Goodnight Mommy and it was chilling. It's an Austrian film with subtitles but I loved it. Not a single gun in the whole movie. eek

Blood Simple 2 stars out of 5

This is the Coen Brothers first film from 1984 and I originally saw it in that year and loved it, but now watching it some 30 years later, it's really bad. There's plot holes you could drive a truck through, and the dialogue is all kind of stupid.

Boy & the World (2013) - A little boy goes on an adventurous quest in search of his father.

The animation is fantastic. I'm thankful the Academy Awards is giving it a higher profile. 4/5

This was on TV, last night. Had never seen it before.

While the jokes were hit-and-miss, some of them made me laugh out loud. And I liked the fact that this movie was an equal-opportunity offender. Giovanni Ribisi also made for a very creepy villain.

I give this 3 bronzed-Lance-Armstrong-testicles out of 4.

P.S. Am I the only one to think that Mark Wahlberg's got a weird melon?

will there be a ted 3.....2nd kinda disapointed

Joy (2015) - Joy is the story of the title character, who rose to become founder and matriarch of a powerful family business dynasty.

Not as good as the last few David O. Russell movies. 3/5

Mustang (2015) - In a village in northern Turkey, Lale and her four sisters are walking home from school, playing innocently with some boys which sets off a scandal that has unexpected consequences.

Anomalisa (2015) - A man crippled by the mundanity of his life experiences something out of the ordinary.

Very clever and trippy. Thinking about the question of when exactly did the breakdown start makes my head spin. 4.5/5

I'd give it 5 stars, one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

"Jussie Smollett wanted to become the Rosa Parks of Gay Black Men, but instead he became the Rosie Ruiz."

man, just finished watching Beasts of No Nation. SIGH, such a hard film to finish. I enjoy Idris as an actor and his performance was stellar, but I don't think I'd ever recommend this film UNLESS I was watching it with a select group of people who were prepared to discuss it after. There is no way to sugar coat or glamorize the brutyality of civil war and the life of a child soldier but since you can't UNSEE certain things or recoup two hours gone by, the PURPOSE of a film like this needs to be clearer IMO. Maybe that WAS the point but MAN...w/o an outlet with PEOPLE to process this with, I feel JUST....defiled in a way

EXCELLENT film! I really enjoyed it. There was a decent amount of cheesy fluff, but the acting and the story was great.

Filmmaker Geeta V. Patel follows her brother, Indian-American actor Ravi V. Patel, as he embarks on a quest to find a wife and make his family happy.

This is supposed to be a documentary but the entire film really appears to be set up and acted. Typical feel good romantic comedy fluff and in no way real.
