The Walking Dead. Part 2

Part 1 shutdown.

Anyway...

I like Morgan but 90 minutes worth of back story. Can we just get the bullet points?

Fans have been long anticipating a flashback episode centered on Morgan, explaining where the character has been over the past few seasons and how he developed his impressive bo-staff skills.

It now appears that episode will be 90 minutes long, according to actor Lennie James' recent interview with HeyUGuys.com.

"It's almost like a standalone film, and I believe it's going to be shown as a 90-minute special," James told the site. "It's going to be an intense ride. It's very much going to be in keeping with the mythology of 'The Walking Dead.' But is a very different kind of episode. Hopefully it's one that the fans will like."

Internet blogs have suggested that episode isn't far off and will, in fact, be episode 4 of Season 6, which airs next Sunday, Nov. 1. The episode is titled "Here's Not Here" with a vague synopsis: "A new face appears; trust issues form."

Based on the synopsis, some have speculated the episode will feature the introduction of Paul "Jesus" Monroe or Negan. But it's now clear the episode will be all about Morgan.

Lemme rewatch this episode again....I'm watching Talking Dead and I wanna look at some stuff. Online it is saying the Norman Reedus gave it away that Glenn would die. I think if he is dead we'll see him again as a walker eek lol Not to leave Morgan out...that episode will be good, but is just gonna delay fans finding out if Glenn is really dead lol

I think it will be interesting. He must be an important character going forward.
They did similar for the Governor. Gave him 1 or 2 full episodes after his 1st defeat

Well the producer guy on TTD was confusing as hell. He was actually talking as if Glenn was actually dead, then tried to cover it up, but by the end was talking as if Glenn was dead again. nuts My take is he isn't dead. BUT if he does end up dead, it's sort of his fault. He should have exterminated Nicholas in the season finale last season. It doesn't always pay to "save" people from themselves. Either way, we won't know if he's dead or alive for a few weeks. I think next week's 90 minute episode is going to be all about Morgan.

Now can we talk about how Rick went commando on the Wolves that MORGAN LET GO last week????!!!! pissed

He should have not taken Nicholas with him at all. He would have been better off alone. Nicholas like the Rev wasn't ready for that stuff.
.
I swear episode 2 and 3 were a slaughterfest.
.
Morgan giving people chances doesn't help anyone. He cannot be that ignorant to think in this world people will so easily see the light and change their ways.

.

Rick is scared because zombie blood got onto his open wound. I don't think that can do anything. If he is bleeding out then how can blood get in. Also with all the zombie blood spraying on them all the time, there are no doubts they have open wounds on their skin already. No one got infected that way.

Well I thought Rick's emotional moment of vulnerability was because of him finding the baby food in one of the Wolves' pant pockets. He's realizing that, that is the reason why gunshots were going off back in Alexandria and probably thinking about Judith and Carl's safety....especially since now the RV won't run. Everything is coming to a head, but I trust he'll find a way out of it.

As for his hand, I thought everybody was infected anyway, so it doesn't matter if walker blood got into his wound or not...it's a matter of the wound developing an infection. If he makes it back in time, it can be treated or worst case scenario, they will need to chop it off. shrug

Yes, AL is extremely fit and extremely sexy. There's just something about that man that drives me wild. lick

I was really wishing that Michionne followed up her lay out of Heath with a slap in his face. It really kills me how those Alexandrians mouth off so much but can't fight for nothing. Though he's the only one who has some sort of fighting skill, there was no reason for him to assume that he was equal to Rick's group. Are you kidding? AND how in the world could he had been upset for what Rick said when his people leave their OWN people behind at the sight of one walker? Dude, you and YOUR wig need to shut up.

Isn't it ironic how everything Rick said to Michionne and Glenn was exactly true? There's only one Alexandrian left but his leg is injured, all of the rest perished.

So far Rick knows what he's talking about. Not being heartless just honest. Sad the only strong settlements are the crazy settlements. Well until they meet Rick's group that is.

4 left in Alexandria, 1 limping home. (I'm sure there's more but not by much)
Seems strange they had all that artillery yet few expert shots. Nobody practiced just for the hell of it.

2 Alexandrians coming home -the limper and the guy with the glasses and braids -that are with Michionne

.

They really know of to kill them off quick don't they? How do these walkers just sneak up on a group and bite or snatch people. I think they should cut back on some of that, because it has always driven me wild. The Walkers make knows and you can smell them. The married guy who got scratch/grazed on his back, the complaining guy in blue. The lady who was limping and got overrun I liked, she listened to Rick and his group from day one and was a fighter.

.

I was surprised Carl let that Wolff trick him into pitying him.

In the comics/novels he looses his hand. I think in the novel his hand get's cut off by the Governor. I hope they don't have him cut his hand off/loose his hand in the tv series.

stressful episode. sad i'm hoping glenn made it, but i believe we are supposed to take the look of anguish on his face throughout the attack of guts eating to mean that he suffered a long painful death and he did not make it. i hope we find out that he did roll under the dumpster and got away, but re-watching the episode imo it's easy to see glen did not survive:

- he is shown at the beginning running for his life;

- early on glenn and michonne are told by rick not to jeopardize themselves by protecting the alexandrians, that glenn and michonne should ditch them and run for their lives if need be;

- two men with wives died ("i want to see my wife again. me too");

- glenn said he was leaving the group to arsonize the feed store in order to ultimately protect maggie and the others;

- glenn pays for his generosity toward nicholas and dies for doing the right thing.

.

i think this episode was an object lesson. a really brutal object lesson in "fuck the others, if they slow me down i'm outta here".

.

then again, sturgiss left the group behind (i'm outta here) and died with the quickness on his own so i really do not know what to make of this episode. file it under shit happens? sad

.

rose glenn

Maybe they'll spin it something like when he and Rick first met, but it's now reversed.

Maybe somehow he gets in the dumpster.

i was afraid we were going to see the last of michonne. that bit with the fence really could have gone either way i had a flash of the directors rolling the dice to see who lives when both glenn and michonne's plight were overlapping onscreen.

.

i guess after reading the article below i'm no longer certain that glenn's a goner, but from the 'update' at the end, i'm afraid he is dead and comes back as a walker

.

.

FROM: http://www.ew.com/article...-just-kill

GLENN IS DEAD

The episode dropped clues both big and small that it could be Glenn’s time to go. We see him have a nice moment looking at Hershel’s pocket watch. We hear him calling Rick a “dumbass” over the radio, which serves as a nice call back to when they first met and Glenn said “Guess that makes me an even bigger dumbass than you.” We see him acting the hero by giving himself the job to burn down the building. In essence, this episode could serve as the final act in Glenn’s maturation from pizza delivery boy to full-blown leader. He goes out a hero by dying in his quest to protect others.

GLENN IS NOT DEAD

The incident happens with 10 minutes left in the episode. Usually big character deaths happen right at the very end of an installment because really, what can possibly top that? And how are audiences expected to transition from a major character dying to Michonne and two newcomers limping through the woods? If Glenn were going to be taken out, wouldn’t he be taken out at the very end instead of then having a quarter of the episode still to go?

GLENN IS DEAD

The big scene ends with Glenn on the ground surrounded by hundreds of zombies eating human insides right on top of him. That is the very definition of dead. How the hell is someone expected to survive that?

GLENN IS NOT DEAD

But whose human insides are they? Not to break the scene down like the freakin’ Zapruder film, but if you go back and watch the scene, Nicholas clearly falls on top of Glenn as the bodies go down toward the pavement. So those zombies could be feasting on the first course of Nicholas since he is in top and more accessible. However…

GLENN IS DEAD

Wouldn’t they eventually get to Glenn? Are we really supposed to believe that they would only eat one body and not two? However…

GLENN IS NOT DEAD

Might Nicholas’ dead guts spread all over Glenn mask his scent as a living, breathing being? (Or do they have to be guts of a full-blown zombie as opposed to just guts of a dead person to mask the human scent? Also — and this is getting a bit off-topic — why didn’t Glenn and Nicholas just spread zombie guys all over themselves to begin with, like Glenn did back in season 1 or like Carol did to infiltrate Terminus?) Maybe the walkers had their fill of Nicholas and just never worked their way through to Glenn. However…

GLENN IS DEAD

Are we really expected to buy that not a single zombie would have made a stray bite on Glenn’s face, neck, or wherever? That seems highly unlikely. However…and this is where it is going to be get potentially very spoilery based on events in the comic book, so if you do not want to know what happens in The Walking Dead comic then STOP READING RIGHT NOW.

GLENN IS NOT DEAD

Okay, I’m giving us a minute to make sure that everyone that does not want to know events from the comic clear out. So clear out now if you don’t want to know. LAST WARNING! Okay, we all good here? Great, let’s move on. Readers of the comic know that Glenn does, in fact, die relatively soon in that version when a new villain named Negan appears on the scene and bashes in Glenn’s face with a barbed-wire covered baseball bat named Lucille. This happens in issue #100 and is one of the biggest moments in the entire series.

Steven Yeun and I have discussed this event several times over the years and whether it would come to pass (no pun intended) in the show as well. As we know, the TV show does not exactly mirror the comics. Carol is long dead in the comic while Andrea is still alive. And it was Tyreese, not Hershel, that was beheaded by the Governor at the prison in the original version. So things do not always line up, which is nice because it keeps you guessing.

Yeun’s take has been that it is too big a moment for it not to happen and that fans might feel cheated if it does not go down on the TV show. I’ve always felt that the biggest shock the producers could deliver is making the audience believe it is going to go down that way, only at the last minute “remixing” the result (as showrunner Scott M, Gimple likes to do) and having it occur to someone else instead (Aaron? Abraham? Sasha?). However, for that scenario to play out, you still need Glenn alive at that point. Which means you can’t kill him here.

THE VERDICT …

While it seems practically impossible for Glenn to escape this situation alive, the whole moment (and in some ways, episode) seems to belong to Nicholas. He is the one we see all episode dealing with the past tragedy he led his team on and coming to grips with that. He is the one that has to kill one of his former Alexandrians that turned because of his own incompetence and cowardice. He is the one who thanks Glenn for showing him a better side of himself before the end, and he is the one who ultimately sacrifices himself (perhaps) so the zombies can feast on him instead of Glenn. If Glenn is going to die, it will be his moment and his moment alone, not as part of another character’s arc.

In addition, the moment with Negan is just too big. Producers have played with this before, having Glenn one second away from being killed by a baseball bat at Terminus. They openly acknowledged that was a way to have some fun with fans who knew about Negan/Lucille. They are well aware everyone is waiting to see if that will play out on screen as it did in the comic, and to let that play out, Glenn needs to stay alive until Negan is introduced (which could be as soon as the back half of this season). So the verdict here is that Glenn is still alive.

The hard part now is that the way this season is structured in showing the same day playing out in different places with different characters, it could potentially be a few weeks before we get our final answer. So we can all die a little inside until then not knowing the truth.

.

UPDATE: During Sunday’s episode ofTalking Dead, host Chris Hardwick read out the following statement from Gimple:

“Dear fans of The Walking Dead, this is a hard story to tell and when we were planning to tell we knew our friends at the Talking Dead would be talking to you about it and knowing you’d all be talking, and feeling and commiserating, I knew we should say something about it lest our silence say something we didn’t mean to say or not say. So I’ll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story.”

What do you think? Is Glenn alive? Dead? Reanimated as a zombie? Vote and post your theories below. And for more Walking Dead scoop, follow me on Twitter @DaltonRoss.

I read that. Many had some of my similar reasonings.

It could easily go anyway.
I think they are giving us the 90min on Morgan to let us recover from the last 3 episodes of non stop anxiety

The original crew haven't run like this since the left the Hospital/Loosing Beth

Wasn't the dumpster against the fence? The long shot shows a lot of walkers behind the dumpster, no fence. Was it basically pushed over Glen in the frenzy of feeding on Nicholas?

I would pick the most impossible gifto upload, but I think I saw what others saw.

The sad part is a main character has to die if its not Glenn than who? Maggie?
